Fields of investigation:
Conditions evaluation of combustion, pirolysis and
gasification of solid, liquid and gaseous conventional and
non-conventional fuels, through tests, studies and researches
on laboratory and semi-pilot scale.
Combustion and flame studies, using different advanced
techniques (Infra-Red Thermography,
Laser
Induced Fluorescence, Rayleigh Thermometry, micro gas
cromatography, Foil Reactor pirolysis) combined with the
most common techniques for gases, combustion and gasification
products analysis.
Combustion system evaluation and forecast of different
fuelbehaviours changing operating conditions, through combustion
models, either for thermal fluid dynamic or chemical kinetic
terms (using Fluent and DSMOKE as computer codes).
Performance characteristics definition (in terms
of combustion behavior, thermal efficiency, stack emissions)
of traditional (natural gas, gasoil, fuel oil) and alternatives
(water-gasoil and water-oil emulsion, biodiesel, solid biomass,
vegetable oil/fat and their byproducts) fuels and their
use in experimental plants.
